A Wide Area Network or WAN is a computer network covering a broad geographical area. Contrast with personal area networks (PANs), local area networks (LANs) or metropolitan area networks (MANs) that are usually limited to a room, building or campus. The largest and most well-known example of a WAN is the Internet. WANs are used to connect local area networks (LANs) together, so that users and computers in one location can communicate with users and computers in other locations. |

GlobalSCAPE WAFS Passes the Test at PHR+A |
Patton Harris and Rust and Associates has 13 branches. Management and IT needed a way to help these offices work on projects together to optimize company resources. Using GlobalSCAPE WAFS gave PHR+A fast file access across branches using minimal system resources. No management is required as it operates in the background and real time byte level differencing not only reduces bandwidth usage and spikes but also the changes are sent as they happen – not when they are needed.

Benefits of Integrating an Onsite Appliance and Hosted Services for Network Monitoring |
Network monitoring software packages require complex installation, ongoing maintenance and additional costs for servers and third-party applications. Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) network monitoring alternatives greatly simplify implementation and maintenance, but they rely on uninterrupted Internet access to function, often require complex VPNs or firewall modifications, and typically provide limited access to historical data.
